GARBAGE COLLECTION
How to start GARBAGE COLLECTION SERVICE:
The City of Mercedes provides garbage collection.
City Ordinance: property owners can ONLY use the City’s Garbage Collection Service or the City’s contracted vendor for such service.
The following is needed to open a City Billing Account:
Application for Service Request, along with a deposit made on the account.
TCEQ Required Service Agreement; Billing Dept. requirement.
New Service Checklist-Residential: Please read the checklist in advance of submitting your paperwork as it requires additional documentation.

Trash, Brush, and Bulky item pick up GUIDELINES are available on the City of Mercedes website or the LGOSD website.
How to put your Garbage Collection Service on HOLD.
Complete and submit a Disconnect Request Form to the Utility Billing Dept.
Be sure to check the section for “Deposit on Hold”. Your $100.00 deposit will remain on your account during the “hold period”.
Your 96g. Blue Bin from Waste Connection will be picked up while your account is on hold. If you depart before your bin has been picked up, make sure it is visible and accessible for Waste Connection to find it. Make sure you have the correct bin associated with your account. (reference the number on the bin)
